Episteme Eidōlon Testnet FAQ
Eidōlon Phase – Public Testnet 2025
Welcome to Episteme, the market for scientific truth — now live in testnet mode. Below are the most common questions to help you get started.
1. What is Episteme?
Episteme is a platform for decentralized, AI-driven prediction markets for science. We turn falsifiable scientific hypotheses into live, tradable assets. Prices update in real time as AI oracles scan global research, and both forecasters and scientists can earn rewards for being right.
2. What is the purpose of the testnet?
- Explore the platform without using real money.
- Try creating, trading, and resolving hypothesis markets.
- Help us test AI resolution, bonding curves, and market logic.
- Report bugs and suggest improvements before mainnet.
3. How do hypothesis markets work?
- Users are encouraged to submit a hypothesis (filling out this form) → Minted as an NFT.
- All users can stake belief → Buy position tokens "For" or "Against".
- AI updates odds → Confidence levels change based on live research feeds.
- Trade anytime → Enter or exit positions before resolution.
- Resolution & rewards → AI oracle (with human fallback) decides the outcome; winners receive rewards in test tokens.
4. What tokens are on the testnet?
- $EPI (testnet) – For trading (no real-world value).
- $EWH (testnet) – Hypothesis NFT.
- $EWP (testnet) – Position tokens ("For" / "Against").
- $eHMND – Testnet Humanode token for gas fees.
5. Do I need real crypto to participate?
No. The testnet uses free faucet tokens with no monetary value. You can request them via our Faucet.
6. How does AI resolution work?
- AI oracles continuously monitor relevant publications, datasets, and trial results.
- When resolution criteria are met, the AI proposes an outcome.
- Disputes trigger a human review before final settlement.
8. Can I create my own hypotheses on testnet?
Yes. Fill out this submission form. If your proposal meets our criteria, we'll add it to the platform. We encourage clear, falsifiable hypotheses, ideally connected to real-world datasets or ongoing research. All submissions are reviewed before listing.
9. How do I give feedback or report bugs?
Join our Telegram Community or Discord.
10. What happens after the testnet?
- We'll run multiple testnet phases (Eidōlon → Krino).
- Your participation helps improve Episteme for the mainnet.
- Active testers and bug reporters may be eligible for future rewards or early access perks (to be announced).
11. Does my testnet activity count toward mainnet?
Trading profits and test tokens won't carry over, but reputation points, bug bounty credits may count toward future incentives.
12. Troubleshooting
Even the smoothest testnets have rough edges.
Wallet & Login
Q: My wallet won't connect. What should I do?
- Refresh the page and try reconnecting.
- Check that you're on the Humanode testnet. If it doesn't appear, add it manually (chain details are linked in the dApp).
Q: My access code isn't working.
- Codes are single-use and whitelist-based. Double-check that you entered it correctly.
- If it still fails, contact the Episteme team via Telegram.
Faucet & Tokens
Q: I requested $EPI, but my balance hasn't updated.
- Balances can take up to 1–2 minutes to sync.
- Refresh your Profile page to force an update.
- If it still doesn't show, reconnect your wallet and try again.
Q: The eHMND faucet bot isn't sending me tokens.
- Make sure you typed
/startfirst. - Use
/gettokensbefore pasting your wallet address. - If you get "Unknown command," repeat
/gettokens. - Confirm your wallet address is copied fully (starts with
0xand is 42 characters long).
Q: Why do I need eHMND?
eHMND is required for gas fees on the Humanode testnet. Without it, no transactions (bets, trades, claims) can go through.
Markets & Trading
Q: My trade isn't showing in the market.
- Check that you had enough eHMND for gas.
- Refresh the market page and look under Market Activity.
- If nothing appears, try with a smaller amount, you may have hit a pool limit.
Q: Can I exit a position before the market closes?
Yes, but note: in testnet mode, liquidity can be thinner, so your exit price may differ from your entry.
Q: What happens when a market resolves?
The outcome is determined by AI oracle scans (papers, preprints, data). During the testnet, some resolutions may be manual.
Leaderboard & Profile
Q: Why is my accuracy showing as 0%?
Accuracy updates only after the position is closed.
Q: My earned $EPI shows as negative. Is that a bug?
Not a bug; it means your current position is at a loss compared to the entry price. Markets fluctuate in real time.
